That covers a fully insured dual-control car that meets all RSA test vehicle requirements, a warm-up drive right before your test slot, and the drop to the Wicklow driving test centre at the Murrough. Cars are available in automatic and manual, and test hire is usually paired with a €50 pretest lesson on the actual test routes.
Walk in with the car already on your side
Most learners who hire our car do it for one of three reasons: the family car does not meet the RSA’s test day checks, the car they practised in is not available on the day, or they simply want to sit the test in the exact car they learned in. Same seat position, same mirrors, same biting point. On test day, familiarity is worth marks.
A car that passes the tester’s checks
Valid NCT, insurance disc, motor tax, working lights and indicators, proper L plates front and back. Testers refuse cars that fail these checks, and the test fee is lost. Our car arrives ready.
Warm-up drive before your slot
We collect you in good time and you drive the car to the test centre yourself, so your hands are warm and your nerves are settled before the tester ever says hello.
Drop to the Murrough included
The Wicklow driving test centre sits in the Government Offices on the Murrough, Wicklow Town. We know the parking, the waiting room and the routes that start from its door.
Can I use any car for my driving test?
No. The RSA tester inspects the car before the test starts, and if it fails any check the test is cancelled on the spot with the fee lost. To be accepted for a driving test in Ireland, the car must have:
- ✓ A valid NCT certificate displayed on the windscreen
- ✓ A current insurance disc that covers the learner to drive it
- ✓ A current motor tax disc
- ✓ L plates clearly visible front and rear
- ✓ Working lights, indicators, brake lights, horn and seatbelts
- ✓ Tyres above the legal tread depth, no warning lights on the dash
One expired disc or a blown brake light is all it takes. Hiring the lesson car removes the whole list from your worries.
